B.O. & Beyond is a collaborative research project between the University of Oxford and the University of York to understand the science behind body odour.

Why are humans smelly?

Have you ever wondered why humans smell?

It’s not you, it’s your pesky bacteria.

Know sweat, when it comes to body odour, sweat is not the problem. It’s actually the bacteria that live in your armpits that break down molecules found in sweat to produce that familiar smell we know as BO. In this video we explain how particular bacteria can seek out the odourless molecules in our armpit sweat to produce BO.

Where does body odour come from?

Can research help prevent B.O.?
